Hi, How do other fetal centers care for a healthy baby on their units, especially those in pediatric facilities? We have been seeing more healthy twins or babies who are stable and able to transition and stay with their families immediately following delivery. How do you manage the first two hours post-delivery? Do you have an assigned baby nurse or nursery? If the family is off the unit to visit the other baby in the nursery, or if the birth parent is unstable or has no support person post cesarean, what kind of plan for baby care do you have? Our SDU is an LDRP and procedural space for our specific patients, and it is not attached to an adult hospital or larger facility. Most of our babies go directly to surgery or the NICU or CICU, and we rarely have a baby on the unit. This situation does not happen frequently, but I want to establish a good staffing plan for when it does and, in turn, provide better care. If any of you have some guidance, I would appreciate it. My e-mail is albrightjm@chop.edu if you would reach out directly. Thank you! Jill Albright
