matsudae I'm curious who supports ultrasounds for fetal procedures such as Lasers, RFAs, MMC repairs, ect. Do you have a sonographer, Radiologist, MFM, something else? Thank you kindly. Erin Matsuda UCSF

AmyPowne Hi Erin, We have our fetal sonographer in all of our fetal procedures (if for some reason she is not available, we have to have our MFM interventionist who scans), our cardiologist will only be in fMMCs if the MFM is not there. We also have a nurse in all of our cases for our QI stuff, family support and overall puppet mastertearing 🙂
krisrimbos Hello, The Chicago Institute does the same! Cardiology tech in fMMCs with cardiologist co weave and sonographer for all twins, FETO cases. Thanks!
MegJenks Hi there, Our fetal surgeon is an MFM so she is there along with 1-2 sonographers (one of which is dedicated to our fetal center). We also have a cardiologist for MMCs.
beichhorn At Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh we have 4 Ob Ultrasound Specialists in our Ob Ultrasound Department, they are available to help with difficulty scans, answer questions, and troubleshoot issues for our US techs to ease that burden on our MDs. One of them is always available attend all of our fetal procedures. Barb eichhornbj@upmc.edu
